I fell in love with this site when I found it’s link on one of the dark links sites I was reviewing. A creator of Gothic and Lolita styles, I was struck by this designer’s personal beauty and creativity. From her information I learned that Samantha Rei, owner of Blasphemina’s Closet, actually activated her site in 2000, after spending some years at the following colleges: 1998 Perpich Center for Arts Education; 1999 College of Visual Arts, and finally Minneapolis Community & Technical college for Apparel Technologies. Starting out in studies surrounding illustrating and painting, she also delved into design of Gothic and Lolita fashion. Sewing at a very young age, Samantha carried on her love of designing fashion throughout the years and has produced a gorgeous line which has been included in several fashion shows and fairs. She has also been featured in the following magazines: RX Magazine, Five For Magazine, Pacific Rim Magazine, and Minnesota women’s Press. She will also be featured in Gothic & Lolita Bible, which is a publication focusing on this particular style. Samantha has also created some beautiful headdresses, further showing off her artistic flair for beauty and creativity.
Where does Samantha get her musings? She indicates her fashion inspirations are drawn from illustrators such as Chris Riddel, Bret Helquist, Mihara Mitsukazu, just to name a few. Her designs are further influenced by the likes of Alexander McQueen, Victorian Maiden, Vivienne Westwood, and Colleen Atwood. If you want to see Samantha’s beautiful designs, do check out her website and the other links below to see her gown in the Minneapolis Super Divas Fashion Show (her gowns are at :50 and 1:07). She does take custom orders and she includes a measurement chart to help both of you to create a one-of-a-kind design of your choice.
